BAMS: Eligibility Criteria

• Students must achieve at least 50% in Class XII for BAMS course admissions. The minimum % criterion, on the other hand, varies per college/university policy.
• Aspirants must complete Class XII in the Science stream with PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) subjects to enrol in a BAMS program with various colleges or universities.
• Some universities may additionally have a minimum age requirement for BAMS applicants.
• Candidates who meet the above requirements must take and pass the National Eligibility Cumulation Entrance Test (NEET).
• Admission to the BAMS program is based on the NEET merit list and is made through centralized counselling.

BAMS: Admission Process

Admission to BAMS is based on NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). This test is required for admission to several medical programs, including BAMS. Following NEET, BAMS applicants would be eligible for counselling with various central colleges and universities based on their scores. Colleges can then conduct a personal interview round to shortlist the candidates further.

There are no specializations available in the BAMS program. Candidates in Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery postgraduate programs are eligible to choose specializations. Two of these programs are MS (Master of Surgery, Ayurveda) and MD (Doctor of Medicine, Ayurveda).

BAMS is a five-year, six-month bachelor’s degree program. There are 4.5 years of academic sessions and 1 year of internship in this program.
