Sample IELTS ESSAY Answer:
In the upcoming years, many people will choose a holiday location in their own country rather than abroad. Embarking on a holiday in one’s own country is always economical for that individual and the expenses that he/she will incur during the trip will certainly contribute to the local economy. On the contrary, a trip to a foreign country will improve a person’s knowledge about that particular country and will be a memorable experience. In my opinion, it is certain that many people will flock to foreign countries in the future, in order to spend their vacation.
On one hand, vacationing in a location of one’s own country is cheap compared to vacationing abroad. As a result, an individual can save a lot of money by doing so. This is evident because lower-middle-class people in India still travel to locations in their own country for vacations. In addition, paying for transportation, accommodation, and food contributes to the local economy because the payment goes to the pockets of local people of those places. These are the reasons why many people prefer to spend their holidays in local tourist spots.
On the other hand, visiting a foreign country improves the general knowledge of a person. The knowledge about the places, food, currency, culture, lifestyle, etc can provide a lot of knowledge to an individual. This knowledge may make the person more tolerant to other cultures and tasting different types of food brings satisfaction to one person’s taste buds. Moreover, it is always a memorable experience for a person if he/she has traveled abroad and nowadays people document their trips via photos and videos. Therefore, these are the reasons why some people prefer visiting foreign countries to spend their holidays.
In my opinion, with the growth in the economies of the developing countries, many people have access to a lot of money. As a result, it is inevitable that they will certainly spend a lot these on vacationing abroad. Therefore, I disagree with the statement that people will travel in their own country by ditching abroad locations.
To summarise, with the development and rise in the gross domestic product of developing countries, the number of people traveling abroad is destined to increase in the near future and hence it is inevitable.
