Indian history / History of India Essay begins from the Indus Valley civilization. It dates back to 2500 B.C. under this time we had Pre- Vedic and Vedic Periods. This is the time when the Indus valley civilization flourished the longest. Later we were ruled by Chandragupta Maurya. This was called as the India’s Golden Age. Around 455 A.D, India was invaded by the Huns thus destroying the Guptan Empire.
Foreign Attacks On India
This was followed by invasions from other foreign countries; Turks and Afghans came to India to take over various empires. The Southern part of India was under the control of Hindu Chola and Vijaynagar Dynasties during the 15th centuries. In the 16th century, Gengis Khan invaded India. This resulted in the formation of the Mughal Dynasty that lasted long. The kings influenced the people in a dramatic manner that can be still seen and out of our country. The Southern part of India was completely independent of the Northern part of India.
It was during this time that we came under the rule of Britishers. They dint come alone. They came along with Chinese, Greeks, Arabs, Portuguese and many who eventually left. The Britishers began their power domination over the Indians. Slowly, parts of India came under the control of the British Empire. They set up East India Company that was led by Indian soldiers who were instilled with the wrong idea of freedom struggle. M.K Gandhi led the non violence struggle for the freedom of the country. He was supported by various leaders of the country – Jawaharlal Nehru, Baghat Singh, Subash Chandra Bose etc.
With immense struggle, India gained Independence on 15th August, 1947 which was marked then and celebrated even today. On this day, Jawaharlal Nehru was given the title of then 1st Prime Minister of India.
The nation slowly picked up its broken parts and stitches together and started developing slowly in every field.
